It highlights the importance of adhering to the Code of Conduct to maintain reputation, foster trust, and ensure accountability within the organization. Each team member is encouraged to uphold these values in all interactions, seek guidance when needed, and report concerns without hesitation. Navigate Ethically through Conflicts of Interest
The Ethics & Conflicts of Interest Policy is your roadmap in making the correct turns. Safe, efficient navigation begins with knowing which way to go before you get there. Put yourself behind the wheel through these situations:
Right Way: May not be a conflict and must be disclosed for review.
Wrong Way: It’s fine as long as we don’t claim Toyota as a client.
Right Way: Yes, report this using the Speak Up Line tool.
Wrong Way: No, someone probably already knows.
Right Way: While it is not required for you to disclose involvement for a charitable group, it is recommended that you use the disclosure system. Serving on the board of directors of any affiliated Toyota company or organizations that do not compete with Toyota is also permitted, provided that all necessary pre-approvals are obtained and the disclosure has been authorized.
Wrong Way: Team members are not allowed to sit on any board seats at any time.
Right Way: Yes, if the appropriate approvals have been obtained and your Speaking Engagement disclosure has been approved.
Wrong Way: Yes, go for it, have fun!
These are just a few of the many ethical questions employees like you have asked. Review the Ethics & Conflicts of Interest Policy now to help you navigate in the future. If you find yourself in situations like these, visit the Ask the Ethics Officer portal and use the Gifts and Conflicts of Interest Disclosure system. These resources will help you make the correct turns as you help drive ethical excellence in your role.
